E-Training with NAuthor Suite

In accordance with the definition in the subject encyclopedia e-le@rning, 2002, ‘it is called e-learning if multimedia and telecommunication are purposefully integrated in the learning processes.'

The market development to date has been dominated by technology for E-Learning concepts and the appropriately developed products.

Yet increasingly, the integration of simulated real-life scenarios as a basis for learning concepts for basic knowledge, as well as situation-orientated training is gaining importance. Real-life situations and practical tasks thus become the very basis of knowledge transfer. In this way the participants are trained for practical work in order to effectively handle increasing complexities and steadily changing situations.

This Form of learning mainly focuses on equipping the trainees with methodical problem solving skills. The most valuable competencies taught are the ability to think in a problem-oriented manner, analysis, calculation, planning, organization, execution and evaluation. Highly modern networked simulations, which accurately reflect reality, are built to prepare the trainees for the latest actual tasks. They are for both online and offline usage and support collaborative learning models.

E-Training solutions utilize the usual technologies and products as their basis. Their focus is on the transfer of practical skills and knowledge for the realization of specific tasks. For this, the integration of virtual realities into the e-learning system environment is required. The users should be able to train in a virtual training environment for real situations, based on simulated scenarios.

The NAuthor suite and its web-based system-architecture offer a rich range of functions for the development, the administration and the distribution of e-trainings. Through the tools SIMULATOR API and Local LMS complex simulations can be implemented in NAuthor, for both online and offline use.

  • NAuthor authoring system, supporting standards like SCORM, AICC or IMS
  • NAuthor Learning Management System – LMS
  • NAuthor Content Management System – CMS
  • NAuthor SIMULATOR API for implementing external hardware such as whiteboards, virtual reality simulators, driving or flying simulators as well as hand-held devices.
  • NAuthor Local Offline LMS for providing trainings without connection to the central server
